The reason I chose to read this book was, for me, a no-brainer. I had previously read Paris Time Capsule and The House By the Lake and found them to be so intriguing that I was more than ready to learn more about this Paris apartment..Ella Carey has skillfully woven a tale which spans time periods over 100 years apart and between England and Paris and two women, Louisa from the late 1800's and Sarah from the present time. It's hard to say whether the author is telling two love stories wrapped up in a mystery or a mystery wrapped in love stories. Whatever, this book held me rapt from beginning to end. I would especially recommend it to anyone who enjoys a story with some history woven through it and one with sub-plots and endings which can surprise the reader. The contrast between the location and events of the Belle Epoque period in Paris and the gentile lifestyle of 1890's England was particularly interesting. I found myself much more interested in the historical time leaps to 1895 than the 2015 story about Sarah's search.The writer is amazingly gifted at historical fiction.This is the third story involving the apartment of Marthe de Florian.It is more unique,though ,to me than the first two(Paris Time Capsule ,The House By The Lake).I quite enjoy jumping out of the book and onto the web to look up names of people mentioned.I was really impressed by Emmeline Pankhurst,who plays a great role in Louisa's life.(Louisa is the main character from the 1895 story).There was a lot of tragedy in this novel, but just enough romance for balance.
